We build and repair decks for homeowners from Hallandale Beach up through Broward and Miami-Dade County. Most people call us because a board's gone soft underfoot, a railing wobbles when a kid leans on it, or old pressure-treated wood has gone gray and splintery after a few Florida summers. Some are starting over on a pool deck that never drained right. We work on wood and composite decks, attached to the house or freestanding out in the yard.
Salt air and standing humidity eat through hardware faster here than almost anywhere else in the country, so we use stainless or hot-dip galvanized fasteners even where code would let us get away with less. We set posts on concrete footers sized for our sandy soil, not a one-size spec pulled off a chart made for clay. Composite boards get gapped for the heat expansion they'll see in August, not the mild spread they'd see up north. That's the difference between a deck that's tight in year one and loose by year three.
